Boys Varsity Baseball beats Highland Park 8 – 2

Lovejoy sailed to a victory over Highland Park 8-2 on Friday in game 1 of the second round of the playoffs.
Lovejoy got on the board in the second inning. Luke Stine drove in two when he singled up the middle.
In the 6th inning the Leopards scored three runs when Zach Smith reach on an error, singles by Colton Laurence, Luke Finn and a sac fly by Stine, and in the 7th, Lovejoy scored on singles by Ralgh Rucker, Laurence, Stine and Finn and a triple by Jordan Yoder, scoring three runs as well.
Yoder pitched Lovejoy to victory. He allowed three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Shearer took the loss for Highland Park. He lasted five innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out seven.
Lovejoy racked up 13 hits, Rucker, Stine, Finn, and Laurence each collected multiple hits for Lovejoy.

Lovejoy improves to 24-9 and leads the series 1-0. Game 2 and 3 will be played at 2:00pm and 5:00pm today at Globe Life Park.
